FREE Business Continuity training and plan templates

FREE training course and plan templates The training modules and planning templates are free because we developed the site in association with Government of the South East,MI5 and NaCTSO National Counter Terrorism & Security Office to support  project "Argus". The  training and templates will provide  any company with a basic understanding, foresight  and plan to avoid, control or recover from disruptive events and safeguard their company, reputation and protect their greatest asset, their employees. The training and plan objective and  focus is to identify threats and business vulnerabilities and reduce or prevent the disruptive event in preference to recovery objectives.

Why Bother? Most company directors believe they could handle a major disaster without a plan, easliy proven by the number that haven't got one. The reality is that apart from legislation and legal obligations to plan, major disruptive events invariably  see the expected facilities and support diminish or vanish because of excess overload and low stock levels caused by "just in time" inventories. These recovery issues however, are not the real drivers. The techniques and logic used by Robust Resilience to develop the "Business Continuity Management" plan can be expected to  identify cost savings and increase both business opportunities and improve customer loyalty and invariably  result in supply chain improvements through lower costs and higher profits.

Quality of Plans There is no such thing as a perfect plan and "All plans fail on first contact with the enemy" (General Eisenhower). General Patton said a poor plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow. It is important to recognise that your plan should be brief and not complicated but most importantly developed by the people that will use it. The key is to  identify your critical resources, threats and vulnerabilities and then protect, restore or identify replacement sources. The training and plans follow BSI 25999 standard and the British Standard "Guidelines of Asset Management" PAS 55 -1 & PAS 55-2. This site provides a basic but workable business continuity and disaster recovery management plan but more importantly provides a very broad understanding of defence and recovery.

What does the site  offer. The different training modules are all components of a robust and resilient Business Continuity and Disaster recovery plan. Each section explains the risk or  consequence of  possible disruptive events and from this overview you will recognise potential failure points and responsive actions necessary to safeguard your business and protect employees. Completion of the course will result in the broad knowledge required to develop your own plan from our templates, available in "Templates" section.

How to use this site. The modules are in the form of individual slides or by clicking on the small page motif (right hand top of each module) a continuous page will be displayed.Work through each module and take the relevant exam if you wish, to ensure you understand. The examination is a multiple choice based on the subject matter and following completion a score is displayed and you can revisit sections and answers again if required.

All encompassing planning

While localised disasters have always been recognised, today we are faced with potentially devastating disruption from pandemics to terrorism, wide scale natural or environmental  risks such as fire or flood. So great is the potential threat that no "Emergency Service" could possibly provide the resources needed for control, mitigation or recovery to all, within a reasonable time frame.

It now becomes imperative that business and their employees gear up to become independent and resilient with a robust plan in place to face all continegencies. This web site provides you with training and plan templates plus a list of specialist support information channels which may assist your company  in the development of  your own company specifc Robust Resilience.

About the training modules

This training site was developed  with  assistance from NaCTSO (National Counter Terrorism Security Office) of MI5 specifically to support project ARGUS and GOSE (Government of the South East) and follows the  requirements of the CCA (Civil Contingencies Act) which emphasises the need to include all sections of the supply chain and  economy in business continuity to improve the national resilience.

The site was written by and is owned by the 999 Team Ltd
